Matthew 23:1-39
23 Then Jesus tell the plenty people and im disciples say:
2 “The scribes and the Pharisee people don carry theirself sitdown for the seat of Moses.
3 So make una do and follow all the things wey them de tell una, but make una no do the things wey them de do, because them de talk but them no de do wetin them de talk.
4 Them de tie heavy load and put them for people shoulder, but them no want use even their finger touch the load.
5 All the things wey them de do, them de do them so that people go see them, because them de make the scripture-box* wey them de wear for protection, big, and them de make the down part of their cloths long pass as e suppose be.
6 When them go evening party, them de like sitdown for place them wey better pass and them de like front* seat for synagogue.
7 And them de like make people de greet them for market area them, and make people de call them Rabbi.*
8 But as for una, make them no call una Rabbi, because na one Teacher una get, and all of una na brothers.
9 Another thing be say, make una no call anybody for earth una papa, because na only one Papa una get, the One wey dey for heaven.
10 And make them no call una leaders, because na one Leader una get, wey be Christ.
11 But the person wey big pass among una must be una servant.
12 Anybody wey de raise imself up, them go bring-am down, but anybody wey de bring imself down, them go raise-am up.
13 “Una go suffer, una wey be scribes* and Pharisee people, pretenders! because una don lock the door of the Kingdom wey dey heaven; because una no de enter and una no de allow people wey want enter, make them enter.
14 *——
15 “Una go suffer, una wey be scribes* and Pharisee people, pretenders! because una de cross sea and go everywhere for dry land to fit make one person join Jew religion and when e don join una, una go make-am go Ge·hen′na* and im sin go even worse pass una own.
16 “Una go suffer, una wey be blind people wey de lead other people, wey de talk say, ‘If anybody use the temple swear, that one no be anything, but if anybody use the gold wey dey the temple swear, e must do wetin e talk.’
17 Foolish and blind people! Which one really dey important pass? The gold or the temple wey make the gold holy?
18 Una still talk say, ‘If anybody use the altar swear, no be anything, but if anybody use the offering wey dey ontop the altar swear, e must do wetin e talk.’
19 Blind people! Which one really dey important pass? The offering or the altar wey de make the offering holy?
20 So, anybody wey de use the altar swear, na the altar and all the things wey dey ontop-am e de use swear.
21 And anybody wey de use the temple swear, na the temple and God wey de live for the temple e de use swear.
22 And anybody wey de use heaven swear, na the throne of God e de use swear, and e still de use the God wey sitdown for the throne swear.
23 “Una go suffer, una wey be scribes and Pharisee people, pretenders! because una de give the tenth part of the mint, dill and cumin, but una no de obey the things wey dey important pass for the Law, wey be to judge for correct way, to show pity and to dey faithful. E dey important to do the first things, but that one no mean say una go forget about this other things.
24 Una wey be blind people wey de lead other people, una de filter gnat* comot from wetin una de drink, but una de swallow camel!
25 “Una go suffer, una wey be scribes and Pharisee people, pretenders! because una de wash the body of the cup and the plate, but inside, dirty full-am. Na so una just be, na so-so long throat and to de do wetin una like, na im full inside una.
26 Una wey be blind Pharisee people, make una first wash the inside of the cup and the inside of the plate, so that the outside too go fit dey clean.
27 “Una go suffer, una wey be scribes* and Pharisee people, pretenders! because una resemble grave wey them paint white, wey be say when you see-am for outside, e de really fine, but wetin full inside-am na dead people bone and all kind of dirty-dirty things.
28 Na so una just be, for people eye, una be like righteous people,* but for inside, na so-so pretend una de pretend, and na so-so wicked things una de do.*
29 “Una go suffer, una wey be scribes and Pharisee people, pretenders! because una de build the graves of the prophets and de make the graves* of righteous people make e fine for eye,
30 and una de talk say, ‘If to say we dey alive that time wey our papa-papa them dey, we for no join them kill the prophets.’
31 So una de use una own mouth talk-am say una be children of people wey kill the prophets.
32 As e don be like that, make una finish the work wey una papa-papa them start.
33 “Una wey be snakes, and children of vipers,* how una go take escape the judgment of Ge·hen′na?*
34 Because of this one, I de send prophets, wise men and people wey de teach other people, come meet una. Una go kill some of them and hang them ontop pole, and flog some of them for una synagogues, and suffer them from city to city,
35 so that the blood of all the righteous people wey them don kill for this earth go dey una head. From the blood of Abel wey be righteous man, go reach the blood of Zech·a·ri′ah wey be Bar·a·chi′ah pikin, wey una kill for the middle of the temple and the altar.
36 True-true, I de tell una say all this things go happen to this generation.
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, wey de kill the prophets and de stone the people wey them send come meet-am. I try many times to fit gather your children together, the way fowl de gather im children under im wings, but una no want-am.
38 See! Them don leave una house for una.*
39 Because I de tell una say una no go ever see me from now, until una go talk say, ‘The person wey de come with Jehovah name na person wey them don bless!’”
